Abstract
The management of solid waste has become worldwide, a public health problem, due to the inadequate handling of these, causing damage to the health of the community and generating a negative impact on the environment, caused especially by the increase in the use of plastic, the lack of a recycling culture and the non-existence of waste separation. Colombia is among the first countries in Latin America, with the highest generation of solid waste, where a high percentage of this waste ends up in the country's landfills, seas and rivers. Due to the above, the main objective of this research proposal is to propose a solid waste separation system, in highly crowded places in the Caribbean Region, also to identify and categorize critical areas for solid waste production, in order to establish an adequate management plan for the separation and recycling of solid waste. Taking into account the above, a review was carried out in the bibliographic databases, with the help of the VOSviewer tool, a Scientometric analysis was carried out on the information on the topic of solid waste management, which allows promoting recycling alternatives, generating a positive component for social, economic and environmental development.
