Abstract
The improvement of the quality of the electricity service is a topic that has been studied worldwide with the passage of time, which through these studies have been made known the parameters taken into account for the measurement of the quality of the electricity service, likewise they have been able to know the causes and consequences of the interruptions of the electricity service. With this research we want to know different alternatives in methodologies and technologies currently applied to improve quality and the ways in which it can respond in a timely manner to possible failures or interruptions in the supply of electricity in the city of Barranquilla. The research was carried out in a qualitative approach, where the literary review was carried out that allowed to know the different solutions to improve the quality of the electric energy service through which it is concluded that the implementation of new technologies in the electricity distribution networks is important for the improvement of the quality of the service.
