Abstract
In this research, a review of the literature is carried out focused on the main authors and keywords that refer to production processes, automation and productivity. This project consists of installing, testing and starting up an automated storage system for aluminum profiles container baskets in companies of the industrial sector in the department of Atlántico in order to increase productivity and reduce waiting times for materials for the production lines. The project includes the installation of the entry and exit docks for baskets containing aluminum profiles, the locations of the warehouse, the electrical system and the control system. As a final result, it is expected to show improvements in the production processes of the companies, reducing the response time in the distribution channel of the raw material to the operating area, better results in terms of the quality of the products offered by the company, reducing in this way the non-conformities of the clients, trained human resources for the operation and maintenance of the system and the reduction in labor accidents due to the handling of products when loading, unloading, transfers, among other movements. The application of automated systems for the supply chain in industrial companies becomes a fundamental step to promote the use of technologies that increase productivity and make a company more competitive.
