Focus and Scope

Revista Económicas CUC, is a scientific journal from Universidad de la Costa, published on a six-monthly basis and of an open access to knowledge nature. Submissions are received free of charge of any publishing fees.

Created in 1978, its editorial management is oriented towards diffusion of scientific developments generated through research (theory) and consolidated experiences (practice). The presentation of submissions requires standards promoted by the editorial committee and of international order. its editorial structure allows the submission of: Original articles, Review articles, Essays and Literature Review, through scientific rigor.

Económicas CUC follows the ethical guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics COPE.  Additionally, the submissions that meet the criteria previously stated go through an arbitration process with the use of the double-blind method carried out by a team of experts in the areas of knowledge.

Peer Review Process

Económicas CUC is a bilingual journal which publishes articles in both English and Spanish. The topics depend on the interests and knowledge generation in social sciences areas and similar areas.

As part of assertiveness when responding to our authors, a Prior Review process of all submissions is carried out by members of the Editorial Committee of Económicas CUC, once the prior review is made, submissions considered to comply with editorial standards and considering thematic relevance, are subjected to the double-blind evaluation system, which allows:

1. To obtain experts evaluation, without identifying authors nor evaluators, it allows to obtain results with high rates of objectivity, which promotes assertiveness and relevance of published contents.  Additionally, the evaluation must comply with the established judgements, to present evaluation results, according to what is specified in the Arbitrator's Guidelines consult: (click) where the following are detailed: Articles approved without modifications, Articles accepted with slight modifications, Articles approved with major changes and Rejected Articles.
2. Once the results are obtained, the issue of the response will be done immediately and exclusively to the Author of Correspondence.
3. In the event of an ACCEPTANCE with modifications to the authors, these will have a 15-business day period to submit a new version with corrections made.

The invitation to take part in the team of experts as evaluating peer will depend on compliance of the following requirements:

• Proven academic and research activity.
• Educational qualification of a master’s degree
• Scientific publications during the past two years.
• Not being part of the editorial committee of the journal.
• No conflict of interest in the submissions to arbitrate

Publication Frequency

Económicas CUC is a scientific publication of international scope with a semiannual periodicity. For purposes of dissemination of Accepted articles, the strict order of nomination and entry into the journal's scientific record is considered, as well as the opportunity for response by the Arbitrators.

ARTICLES PROCESSING FEES

Económicas CUC within the framework of its contribution to diffusion of knowledge does not stipulate fees for the reception and articles management. 

Open Access Policy

Económicas CUC has been designed under open access standards.  The users can freely access to the journal.  Its accessibility, visibility and use of contents are free of charge.  For these purposes, the articles can be downloaded, read, printed, distributed through several means, as well as being used for different non-commercial purposes, without authorization, in accordance with the International Creative Commons Attribution-NonComercial-Share Alike License 4.0. 

PRIVACY STATEMENT

Within the framework of ethical principles, the Editorial and Scientific committees, Advisors and Technical Team, identification data and contacts of the authors and collaborators, their contributions, as well as the contents will be managed and edited only for Económicas CUC, and will never be used for other purposes nor these will be supplied to third parties. 

Section policies

ORIGINAL ARTICLE

For this section articles presentation and advancement are received, which respond to the results of original and unpublished investigations, with important contributions to knowledge where a rigorous method is evident.  For its structure ii is required: A summary (both in English and Spanish) of 100 words, key words.  A maximum of 5000 words is considered including bibliography.  Por charts, tables and figures a range of 1000 words is established.  

 REVIEW ARTICLE

It is considered a basic criterion that relevance and contribution that articles generate to the area of knowledge, likewise as a fundamental part in the development assertiveness is required in the definition and reach of the objective, assertiveness and relevance in relation to preceding research about the subject, the content must be presented with a summary (Spanish and English), key words, an introduction, previous research, method, results, recommendations with high impact for solutions of social and organizational issues, conclusions and bibliography; charts, tables, graphs and figures must have a range of 7000 words. 

ESSAY

These are received as part of a critical analysis, evaluation and reflection from the authors about a topic that is related to the areas of knowledge of Económicas CUC, it is required that the structure must be conceived in the form of introduction, development, conclusions and contributions from the author, and bibliography.  Formulation must be conceived with scientific rigor and properly written.  Length cannot exceed 3000 words.  In given cases this process is done through a previous invitation to experts from the editorial committee.   

LITERATURE REVIEW

This section is intended for authors to publish their personalized view of works of interests related to the areas of knowledge of Económicas CUC, structure and elaboration does not match of those previously described, as analytical freedom and reflection are fundamental for acceptance and publication.  Length must not exceed 2.500 words.

Declaration on Ethics of good practices

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES OF EDITORIAL MANAGEMENT

Económicas CUC regulates its editorial management according to good practice guidelines for publications, issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics: COPE.  For consultation go to: http://www.uta.cl/ddinoticias/adjunto/2014_11.pdf.

DECLARATION ON ETHICS OF GOOD PRACTICES:

On authorship

The authors who send their submissions to the publishing process must justify that the process has not been nor is under revision by other scientific publications.  It is required that submissions are original and unpublished.  The submission must be registered with consent of all authors, who commit to not send to other publications their submissions, during the evaluation period.

The management for each submission is subject to a strict order of actual receipt.  Preselected submissions according to the topics, relevance, validity will be referred to a team of experts for the process of double-blind revision.  The results of evaluation will be delivered to the authors regardless of the verdict: Articles approved without modifications, Articles accepted with slight modifications, Articles approved with major changes and Rejected Articles, through the OJS platform. once the publication is approved it is required the signing of the format to transfer the patrimonial rights from the author to the journal, which must be signed by each one of the authors.  

Handling of plagiarism

Within the framework of ethical principles, Económicas CUC declares non-acceptance of plagiarism and all submissions received must fulfill accordingly:

• Originality letter and transfer of rights signed by the authors.

The authors are responsible of honoring the authorship of all information included in their submission, from which tables, charts, pictures, figures are mentioned, reason why a declaration that the previously mentioned content won’t infringe on copyright, is part of the letter of endorsement, likewise every article received will be previously validated through a plagiarism detection software, so that complete or partial copy cases must not occur, paraphrasing without due reference and other bad use and management of information practices.

Failure to comply with the previously stated requirements leads to not be duly processes and thus not published, in case of publication the journal will issue the corresponding misprint. 

Conflict of interests

Económicas CUC sets as a priority the selection of experts for arbitration processes according to the area of knowledge of the article and ensures that the review process corresponds to the standards of the double-blind method in search for objectivity and corresponding validation, which will allow issuance of a verdict, which must be referred to the editor who manages decisions regarding the author.  

Furthermore, Económicas CUC considers the option of Acknowledgement, through which the author can recognize people and organizations that have contributed with the development of the research, as well as to those who provided financial support for its consolidation.

Fragmentation

Económicas CUC ratifies the reception policy of unpublished and original papers exposed in the Ethics Declaration about good practices, in consequence authors are required to refrain from including fragmented sessions of previously published papers excluding the corresponding citations. Omission of this stated process can be detected as overlapping content which violates the originality criteria established by Económicas CUC.

Económicas CUC declares with these policies the pursuit of upholding ethics and good practices in this journal.  All established criteria match the considerations set by COPE and Elsevier Ethics criteria for Research and Publications (http://www.elsevier.com/editors/publishing-ethics/perk). • Correct addressing of areas of knowledge, according to scientific trends promoted within the international context.
• Controlling and evaluating the rigor of the defined process starting with the reception of submissions until publication (or rejection).

Económicas CUC Journal began being published 34 years ago by Universidad de la Costa, CUC, which invites, through calls, to the entire academic and administrative communities and professionals from different specialties to present their research or academic works through unpublished articles.
