Abstract
Suicide is a global public health problem and adults with mood disorders are likely to be at increased risk. Objective: to synthesize publications on social cognition (SC) interventions for adults with mood disorders and suicide risk. Methods: a systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, ScienceDirect and Embase databases, for publications in English and Spanish, during the period from 2013 to 2023. The methodological quality of the selected articles, the characteristics of the interventions and their effect on suicidal behavior were evaluated. Results: five articles met the eligibility criteria, which included 1508 participants between the ages of 18 and 65 years. The findings highlight the potential of SC interventions for this population. However, the small number of studies on interventions with this approach, together with their methodological variability, limited the comprehensive comparison of results. Conclusion: these findings provide evidence to support decision-makers in different health care settings to reduce the risk of suicidality. It is suggested that future research establish common measurement protocols to facilitate comparison between interventions
