Abstract

The review article carried out on the integral management of waste in educational institutions is presented below, in order to be able to propose significant experiences that can be replicated in educational contexts. The method of documentary review of articles and research theses was used, extracting applied methodologies, the instruments used, and the results obtained. It was found that there is inadequate waste management in educational establishments as a result of a lack of environmental culture, the educational institutions studied lack organized environmental management programs, environmental education processes do not respond to a systematic and organized project, but to a proposal of activism that do not lead to changes in behaviors and commitments. Finally, management strategies are projected that include environmental waste management programs.
