Abstract

Introduction: A review article is presented on the relationship between information management and quality assurance in Higher Education Institutions-HEIs. Objective: Analyze the sense of correspondence between information management and quality assurance as a basis for HEIs to effectively respond to current information requirements related to quality. Methodology: The methodological systematization integrates: thematic selection, information search strategies, classification and selection of sources and documents, documentary analysis, information synthesis and text construction (with a descriptive and interpretive purpose). Results and discussion: An argumentative text is generated around categories such as: dispersion of data, conformation of information, transcendence of said resource towards the strategic, relevance of human capacity, the tacit, the explicit and the indicator systems as instruments of capture and development of information (adding this to an example associated with the substantive function of research). Conclusions: Training institutions must necessarily assume a leading role in information management, in order to deal with the quality requirements related to the Information Society in the least traumatic way.
