Psychological autopsy in children and adolescents with suicidal behavior

Abstract
Suicide is a phenomenon of increasing public health concern the social impact that it generates. In Colombia, there has been an increasing incidence in suicides among children and adolescents. As a public health problem, suicide need an urgent attention of all specialists and mental health officers, however, unfortunately, its prevention and control are not an easy task. The appropriate dis- semination of information and awareness about suicide are essential to success through prevention programs.
The specific purpose of this article is to review theoretical and scientific information on all the characteristics shown by children and adolescents with suicidal behavior leading up to a Psychological Autopsy, which can help identify risk groups, enabling us to implement actions to and intervene, prevent and treat these.
