Abstract

This article presents the main results corresponding to the multidimensional assessment of the quality of life in the Zenú indigenous community that comes from the departments of Sucre and Córdoba, with current settlement in the municipality of Maicao, department of La Guajira. For this purpose, carried out the analy-sis of the factors that determine the quality of life, as it relates to the basic needs of housing, health, education, employment, social participation, political and community. The methodological approach was quantitative, with a level of descriptive analysis. It is designed and validated a Multidimensional Questionnaire of Quality of Life with 57 items. Participants were selected with an approximation of census-type with 647 families living in 540 households belonging to the Zenú community. The results reflected some critical aspects in the conditions of quality of life, characteri-zed by a low level of academic development especially in the adult population, the overcrowded conditions in which families live, state of the housing and informal work. In addition, in the field of social organization, this study allowed us to deepen in the analysis of the perception of unit which has the Zenú community; as well as, highlight your efforts in the quest to improve their living conditions, with high sense of belonging and participation within the council Zenú urban.
