About the Journal
Purpose and Scope
INGE CUC is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal identified by e-ISSN: 2382-4700 / ISSN: 0122-6517. Published by the Universidad de la Costa, its mission is to serve as a channel for disseminating original and unpublished research in the field of engineering, with a focus on technological innovation and its application across various sectors, including healthcare. The journal is exclusively aimed at the scientific and academic community within the declared areas of knowledge.
Topics and Coverage
The journal publishes research articles, critical reviews, and case studies with significant contributions in the following areas:
- Renewable energy, sustainability, and the environment: Clean technologies, energy efficiency, circular economy, environmental impact, and sustainable development.
- Decision sciences: Optimization, applied artificial intelligence, mathematical models for decision-making, and data analysis.
- Computer science: Cloud computing, cybersecurity, embedded systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain.
- Engineering applied to healthcare: Biotechnology, bioengineering, biomedical signal processing techniques, telemedicine, and smart medical devices.
- Emerging technologies and digital transformation: Big Data, robotics, advanced manufacturing, 5G, and industrial automation.
Editorial Process and Evaluation
Submitted articles to INGE CUC must meet the criteria of originality, scientific rigor, and relevance within the journal's thematic focus. All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartiality and the quality of the published work.
Commitment to Ethics and Open Access
INGE CUC adheres to the ethical principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows the guidelines established in Elsevier's Publishing Ethics Resource Kit for Editors. The journal operates under a Diamond Open Access model, meaning that neither authors nor readers incur publication or access fees, thereby promoting the free circulation of scientific knowledge.
Rights and Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for the content of their articles and must ensure adherence to ethical and editorial standards.
INGE CUC reserves the right to accept or reject manuscripts and may make editorial adjustments to enhance the quality of the content.
The views expressed in the articles are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the stance of the Universidad de la Costa.
On Academic Endogamy
To meet the international standards of high-impact journals, INGE CUC may publish up to 10% annually of manuscripts authored by individuals affiliated with the publishing institution or those involved in research projects led by its academics.
This percentage is calculated based on the total number of authors published in each volume. Once the established limit is reached, additional manuscripts will be placed in an article repository for potential selection and publication in subsequent issues, following a chronological order based on the acceptance date.
Similarly, to prevent endogamy among external authors and to avoid unethical practices in scientific publishing, as well as to promote open access to knowledge and uphold the principle of transparency in editorial processes, all authors—regardless of their affiliation—must wait a minimum of one semester before submitting another manuscript for potential publication. The only exception to this rule is "Letters to the Editor," due to their special nature.
Publication Frequency
The journal follows a continuous publication model, organizing articles into semi-annual editions for efficient indexing and dissemination.
With an interdisciplinary approach, INGE CUC establishes itself as a leading platform for research in engineering and emerging technologies, fostering innovation and the practical application of knowledge for the benefit of society.
Ownership and Management of the Journal
The journal is owned by Universidad de la Costa, Colombia, which holds exclusive rights to the proprietary content ceded by the authors. The university is also responsible for the journal's financing and editorial management through its publishing arm, EDUCOSTA.
