Alternative reality game for mathematics in higher education from the student perception of teaching practices
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper presents the results of a study about the perceptions and preferences of first-semester students in the technological programs of the Schools of Engineering and Business Sciences at the Institución Antonio José Camacho regarding the teaching strategies implemented by professors in the Mathematics one course. The research objective corresponds to the pedagogical initiative undertaken to develop an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) to promote the learning of mathematics in a playful and rather unconventional way. For the development of the ARG and its adaptation to the educational context, students were asked about their literary, cinematographic and video-game interests, as well as the social problems of greatest importance to them that are closely related to their own reality. The results of the application of the above-mentioned variables made it possible to elaborate an initial narrative structure of the ARG.
