Abstract


Introduction: Colombia is recognized as a megadiverse country, whose cost has been calculated for economic wealth purposes, and other forms that transcend monetary value have not been considered. Objective: This article describes non-monetary environmental wealth variables, the product of a descriptive and analytical documentary review work. Methodology: It was developed in three phases: search and selection of information from open access databases; organization of the information, for which an excel matrix was built; and analysis of the information considering the stages proposed by Bardín, referring to pre-analysis, use of the material, treatment of the findings. Results and Discussion: The characterization of the non-monetary environmental wealth variables invites us to reflect on the importance and responsibility of the school so that they are the object of study, recognition and evaluation from the classrooms. The foregoing within the framework of an environmental education that promotes, at different educational levels, for the defense and appropriation of the environment, as well as to establish guidelines, mechanisms and resources for its reconfiguration, especially at school. Conclusion: Training in environmental education supports the conception of strategies that contribute to the well-being of communities where the importance of satisfying basic needs and minimizing the impact of human activities is privileged.
