Abstract

Introduction: In Colombia, electrification in areas with difficult access remains an unresolved problem, for that reason alternative energy as the wave energy has a possible solution for obtaining the energy resource; However this energy has little development in the country


Objective: The objective of this article is to evaluate the wave energy potential of the department of Córdoba.


Method: Because of that, an on-shore type point-absorbent device was designed capable of transforming of wave power into electricity to quantify it, validating its operation in a wave chanel Results: The results obtained shows with the maximum power produced by the device was 5.16 W with a height of 0.3 meters and a period of 3.5 seconds;


Conclusions: Additionally, it was calculated that theoretically there are 1058.4  of potential wave energy potential in Cordoba, of which with the device was designed can be obtained nearly 7.204 W.
