The Quadrivium and the Gothic Cathedral

Abstract
The promoters of the cathedrals idealized quadrivium in the fundamentals of the Gothic order. The Chapter cathedral had knowledge of mathematical science speculative, derived from patristic sources and Latino encyclopaedists Neo-Platonist. The synthesis of these sources, with a metric based arithmetic and geometric displays as a large abacus, the geometria fabrorum of medieval mason, allows build the Gothic cathedrals.
