Constructive dynamics of the great equipments in Valledupar (2002-2016): Lights and shadows in local urban development

Abstract
The city of Valledupar has experienced significant demographic growth in recent decades, going from having 3,339 inhabitants in the year 1,938 to hosting 459,349 in 2018, 137 times the population mentioned above, multiplying that the geographical, economic characteristics, social and cultural aspects of the city, generate an undisputed attraction and interest not only for its new inhabitants, but also for businessmen and promoters of the real estate sector. Consequently, equipment projects have been developed that are directly aimed at expanding and improving infrastructure and launching collective urban activities to satisfy the new demand required by citizens. For this reason, this article, through quantitative data provided by entities with the competence to exercise the management and control of urban growth, tries to analyze and argue the following hypothesis: Valledupar has become, in these 15 years analyzed, a Successful benchmark of the urban growth phenomenon in the Caribbean region.
