Habitability of multifamily social housing for the resettlement of vulnerable populations in Colombia
Main Article Content
Abstract
Resettlement is a complex intervention that, if not properly planned and implemented, generates a rapid deterioration of the living conditions of those affected. The objective is to determine the habitability conditions of multi-family social housing developed in recent years in Colombia for the relocation of vulnerable urban populations, through the study of the “San Sebastián IV” housing complex in Manizales. Based in documentary information, observations, interviews and a survey, the suitability of the habitat components is analyzed, at different scales, to satisfy the basic needs of habitability according to the concept of “Adequate Housing” of the United Nations. It is concluded that, compared to the habitat of origin, some aspects related to the availability of services, materials and infrastructure and the security of tenure are improved; however, socioeconomic vulnerability is accentuated due to the characteristics of the new living environment.
