Abstract

This article explores the form of socio-spatial reproduction of the habitat from the spontaneous organization of informal settlements, since State urban planning becomes the marginalization of the forms of organization of popular settlements. For this reason, the urban bioperiphery is proposed as a theoretical-practical model to understand the inherent practices of collective participation and popular organization of the territory, which leads to the consolidation of different forms and alternative landscapes as a consequence of physical-spatial dynamics. The methodology has a mixed approach: qualitative and quantitative. The first category of the research evaluates the urban morphology, the second category recognizes the forms of spatial transformation and the popular imagination of its inhabitants. These two categories of studies resignify the values and production processes of the self-constructed space that determines the logic of occupation and popular organization linked to the direct actions of residents to improve their neighborhood.
